SUNSET RUBDOWN
Sunset Rubdown was once the moniker under which Wolf Parade's Spencer Krug released low fidelity solo recordings. The project has long since evolved into a full band, and Dragonslayer is the third full-length recorded by the whole group. Sunset Rubdown hope that the true strength of this new album is a hidden complexity that emerges slowly from within the straight production and raw musicianship, and from what sounds at first to be an only slightly skewed approach to pop. They hope it's like that one friend of yours who looks unassuming and normal, but once you get to know him it's obvious he's basically crazy. "Krug weaves fractured, complex, cacophonous pop songs glued together by a distinct love for melody ... Fans of 'Blackberry Way'-era Move, Berlin-era Bowie, late-period Of Montreal, and the Danielson Famile will eat this up like the candy it is." --AllMusic.com

ELFIN SADDLE
"Elfin Saddle is the unusual union of a Japanese woman, a Canadian man, and a ramshackle pile of objects and acoustic instruments. With influences as diverse as outsider art, archival folk recordings, dark forests, and anime, Emi Honda and Jordan McKenzie create a world of their own, inhabited by spirits, extreme weather, and other creatures of their respective imaginations. As a live act, Elfin Saddle involves a variety of carefully assembled instruments and found objects, including accordion, musical saw, ukulele, a home-made drum kit, all working together to create a sound more powerful than you might expect." --Ticktick
